Louis Jay Freedman, 64, of Savannah, Georgia, and husband of Elissa Rosner Freedman, died Friday afternoon, October 8, 2021, at Memorial University Medical Center.
Born in Savannah, Georgia, he was a son of the late Martin Freedman and the late Bertha Plotkin Freedman. A 1975 graduate of Benedictine Military School, Louis also played football as a walk-on defensive tackle for the University of Georgia and was a member of the 1978 'Underdog to Wonderdog' squad. He worked for many years as a property manager and leasing agent at A.J. & C. Garfunkel and was the owner of Freedman Electronics d/b/a Radio Shack in Hinesville, Georgia. A devoted member of Bnai Brith Jacob Synagogue, Chevra Kadisha and the Brotherhood, Louis was also in the Greater Savannah Athletic Hall of Fame and the JEA Sports Hall of Fame.
Louis was loved by everyone and Louis loved everyone. He had a gentle nature and kindness that people were drawn to and such a positive, loving attitude that kept him going through several years of illness. His family and Judaism were the most important things in his life, and his friends were really his extended family.
Survivors include his wife of 30 years, Elissa Rosner Freedman; sons, Matthew (Mira) Freedman and Isaac Freedman; granddaughter, Gila Freedman, brother, Gerald Freedman (Lynda); sister, Jan Katz (Frank) and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will take place at 12:30 Sunday afternoon, October 10, 2021, at the graveside, Bonaventure Cemetery, conducted by Rabbi Avigdor Slatus.
The family will be sitting Shiva from 2 until 5 o\'clock and 7:30 until 9 o\'clock Monday, October 11, 2021 through Thursday, October 14, 2021.
