SAVANNAH, GEORGIA - Lorene Thigpen Smith, 90, of Savannah, Georgia, widow of Ralph Eugene Smith, died Thursday afternoon, December 8, 2011, at Memorial University Medical Center.
Born in Harrison, Georgia, she was a daughter of the late Frank Thigpen and the late Evie Jane Brantley Thigpen. Mrs. Smith was a faithful member of Calvary Baptist Temple where, until her health failed, she was an active member of her Sunday school class. She was a homemaker. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Hugh Thigpen and his wife, Renetta, and Vernon Thigpen and his wife, Dean.
Survivors include her daughter, Barbara S. Deal and her husband, Cecil, of Savannah, Georgia; one grandson, Michael Deal and his wife, Debbie, of Savannah, Georgia; two great-grandsons, Brandon Deal and Blake Deal, and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 o'clock Saturday at Gamble Funeral Service - 410 Stephenson Avenue.
The funeral service will be held at 3 o'clock Sunday afternoon in Calvary Baptist Temple conducted by The Reverend Wayne Watts and The Reverend Dr. Len B. Turner. Interment will be in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
