Lois Rosenstein, 93, of Savannah, Ga passed away peacefully on Monday, April 24, 2023 under hospice care, after an extended illness.
Lois was born on April 4, 1930, to Evelyn Goldberg Rosenthal and Abram I. Rosenthal. Her beloved grandmother Sonia “Diddle” Goldberg also played an important role in her life and is likely the source of Lois’ strength and independence.
Lois worked for Sears in Oglethorpe Mall for over 20 years under the leadership of store manager, John Monroe, and attended many gatherings with the friends she made during her time there. After retiring she enjoyed spending time with her family and traveling with friends. Several friends from her school years, and members of her garden club and bridge club were a great source of comfort to her in her later years.
Lois will be remembered by her loving family and friends for her strength and perseverance, and her wit and laughter.
She was preceded in death by her husband Fred Rosenstein, her sisters Joslyn “Jo” Rosenthal, and Carol (Rosenthal) Shear.
She is survived by her children; Barry Rosenstein, Nancy R Power, and Lynn R Whelan (Larry); her grandchildren, Jessica Power (Geoff), Freddie Power, Stephanie P Herren (Jeremy), Andrew Whelan (Addie), and Morgan Whelan, and her great-granddaughter Maddie Herren. Nothing was more important in Lois’ life than her children and grandchildren, and her time with Maddie brought her much happiness during her decline in health.
