On the morning of September 5, 2019 Lois Jean (Minnis) Nails also known as 'Peaches' to family and friends passed away peacefully at the age of 74.



Lois was born in Columbus, Ohio. She was married to the late Cleve F. Nails, Jr. In addition to her husband, Lois was preceded in death by parents Annabelle (Minnis) and Lorenie Kelley; brother, James Michael White; and maternal grandparents Arthur C. Minnis, Ruby Cook Norwood and Lewis Cook.



Lois was educated in the Columbus, Ohio (Franklin County), public school system; a graduate of the University of Maryland; and a retiree from the Department of Defense with thirty-one years of service.



Upon retirement, Lois relocated back to Savannah in 2007. Not one to sit still, immediately after arriving to Savannah, she began to look for something to do. She was interested in helping others. This prompted her to collaborate with a program that assisted individuals who were being released from penal institutions reintegrating back into society. In 2010, she became affiliated with a re-entry program headed up by Mr. Robert Cummings (whom she later found out was her cousin). In 2012, she became the CEO of her own non-profit re-entry program.



Lois enjoyed being active, she was a member of the Mission and Seasoned Saints at Christ Memorial Baptist Church, Radiant Life American Sign Language Ministry and the Chatham County Laymen Ministry. She served in various positions with the Chamber Club ' Toastmasters International, Savannah; Served as President of the Mission Ministry at Connor's Temple; Participated in the local international Bible study, Bible Study Fellowship (BSF); Volunteered her time visiting the sick and shut-in as well as ministering to the less fortunate.



She leaves to mourn her passing, her daughters, Angela (Denise) Nails and Tawnya Nails; granddaughters Tasha A. (Lionel) Barnett, Alisha K. (a.k.a. Lele) McCaa; great-granddaughters Nyasia, Malayla, Mylisha; and great-grandsons Miquavcon (a.k.a. Qua) and Kyson; two aunts, Virginia Beard (Douglas) and Ruth Ann Washington (Cornelius); one nephew, James Michael White, Jr.; niece, LaMona Clark; three brother-in-laws; four sister-in-laws; several nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.



The family will receive friends on Saturday, September 14, 2019 from 12 until 2 o'clock in the afternoon at Gamble Funeral Service ' 410 Stephenson Avenue.



Following visitation, the funeral service will be held at 2 o'clock in the afternoon at Gamble Funeral Service Chapel. Service will be conducted by Pastor Larry Broxton of Christ Memorial Baptist Church. Interment will be in Arlington National Cemetery.
