SAVANNAH, GEORGIA - Lois Virginia Threatt Burroughs, 86, of Savannah, Georgia and widow of Lewis Wentfield Burroughs, Sr., died Friday morning, May 18, 2012, at her home and under the care of Hospice Savannah.
Born in Evans County, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late William Victor Threatt and the late Myrtle Verona Odom Threatt. She was a member of Southside Baptist Church and was employed with Walmart for 25 years in the fabric department. Mrs. Burroughs loved her country and made donations to various Veteran organizations over the years. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Lewis Wentfield Burroughs, Jr., and two brothers, William Threatt and Enman Hershel Threatt.
Surviving are her daughter, Beryl "Sissy" B. Buttimer of Savannah, Georgia; three sons, Gregory Dane Burroughs, Sr., and Debbie, of Guyton, Georgia, Richard Tim Burroughs and his wife, Terri, of Rincon, Georgia, and Robert W. "Bobby" Burroughs of Savannah, Georgia; seven grandchilren; three great-grandchildren; her loyal devoted dog and companion, Peety, and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 o'clock Monday evening at Gamble Funeral Service - 410 Stephenson Avenue.
The funeral service will be held at 11 o'clock Tuesday morning in the chapel of Gamble Funeral Service conducted by The Reverend Dr. Allan W. Bosson. Interment will be in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
