Leslie Ellen Garretson Lewis, 57, died peacefully at home, Thursday evening, March 10, 2016, surrounded by her family after a long battle with cancer.
She was born in Conneaut, Ohio, on August 28, 1958.
Ellen was preceded in death by her father, Eldridge Randolph Garretson; her mother, Carole MacKay Garretson, and her brother, Scot Randolph Garretson.
Surviving are her husband, MAJ Stuart Ross Lewis, U.S. Army (Ret.); a daughter, Mary Elizabeth Meeks of Savannah, Georgia; a son, John 'Beau' Harold Meeks, Jr. of Richmond, Hill Georgia; three sisters, Ginger G. Powell and her husband, Charles, of Greenville, North Carolina, Jayne G. Holland of Savannah, Georgia and Alex G. Hodges and her husband, Al, of Hatteras, North Carolina; her nieces and nephews, Mark MacKay Powell, Penny Powell Glover, and her husband, Earnie, Benjamin Randolph Holland, Michael Rhett Holland and his wife, Sarah, Christopher Ryan Holland, Ashley Christine Hodges, Meredith Adelaide Hodges, Rebecca Caroline Hodges and Joseph Al Hodges III, and her great-nephews and nieces, Joshua, Zoe, Bella, Jack, Ty and Luke.
Ellen will also be greatly missed by Stuart's children, Stuart Ross Lewis, Jr. and his wife, Hannah, and Robert Milton Lewis. Her absence will be grievously missed by their two very special four legged friends, Molly and Edel.
The family will receive friends from 3 until 5 o'clock Sunday afternoon at Gamble Funeral Service ' 410 Stephenson Avenue.
A celebration of life will be held at 10 o'clock Monday morning at White Bluff United Methodist Church in Savannah conducted by The Reverend Nelle Bordeaux. Burial will be at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon in Beaufort National Cemetery in Beaufort, South Carolina.
