Leon Donald Farr, 78, of Savannah, Georgia and husband of Diane Marie Wells Farr,
died unexpectedly Saturday afternoon, August 17, 2024, with his wife at his side at East
Georgia Regional Medical Center in Statesboro, Georgia.
Born in Syracuse, New York, he was a son of the late Leon Farr and the late Florence
Wesley. Leon was of the Catholic faith. He was a United States Navy veteran having
served in the Vietnam War. Leon retired as a Sergeant with the Savannah Police
Department after 22 years of service. Spending time with his family was what was most
important to him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Catherine “Caytie”
Leigh Morgan Bosch, and a brother, David Hoyt.
Survivors including his wife of 30 years and one son, Joey Farr; three daughters,
Heather Farr, Michelle Farr, and Noel Farr; six grandchildren, Koen Evan Bosch, Hallie
Farr, Edward Farr, Isabelle Farr, C. J. Farr, and Daniel Farr; one sister, Linda Farr; three
brothers, John Farr and his wife, Kathy, Richard Farr and his wife, Martha, and Harold
Farr, and a number of nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 o’clock Friday, August 23, 2024, at Gamble
Funeral Service – 410 Stephenson Avenue.
The funeral service will be held at 7 o’clock Friday evening, August 23, 2024, in the
chapel of Gamble Funeral Service conducted by the Reverend Dr. Dewain E. Smith.
Interment will be private.
The family suggests memorials to St. Vincent’s Academy – 207 East Liberty Street,
Savannah, Georgia 31401-4401 or a charity of the donor’s choice.
