SAVANNAH, GEORGIA - Lena Holland Lassiter Jenkins, 91, of Savannah, Georgia, wife of James Thomas Jenkins, died Sunday evening, August 23, 2009, at Hospice Savannah.
Born in Millhaven, Georgia, she was a daughter of the late Julius Virgil Holland and Annie Prescott Holland. Mrs. Jenkins was a communicant of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and a retired legal secretary. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Michael Edward Lassiter, eleven sisters and brothers.
Surviving are her husband, James Thomas Jenkins of the home; her daughter and son-in-law, Teresa and Louis Phillips of Savannah, Georgia; two grandchildren, Jennifer Barnhouse and her husband, Michael, of Wilmington, North Carolina, and Christopher Michael Phillips and his fiancé, Anya Gunsallus, of Durham, North Carolina, and one great-granddaughter, Meredith Erin Barnhouse of Wilmington, North Carolina.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 o'clock Friday evening at Gamble Funeral Service, 410 Stephenson Avenue.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 o'clock Saturday morning in Sacred Heart Catholic Church conducted by The Reverend Francis C. Higgins. Interment will be in the Catholic Cemetery.
