Lee Rich Alexander, 59, of Austin, Texas and formerly of Savannah, died Tuesday afternoon, May 7, 2013.
Born in Savannah, Georgia, he was a son of the late Louis Richard Alexander and the late Suzanne Vaughndorf-Alexander. Lee was a member of Southwest Hills Community Church in Austin and a former member of Temple Mickve Israel in Savannah. He graduated from Emory University and Emory Medical School. Lee was a Board certified anesthesiologist who practiced at Georgia Baptist hospital in Atlanta, retiring early due to illness He was a gentle person who shall be remembered for his devotion and love to his family, friends and strangers.
His family and friends will greatly miss his camaraderie and friendship but rejoice in his newfound freedom.
Survivor are his children, Benjamin Louis Fondren-Alexander and Lauren Rachel Fondren-Alexander, both of Austin, Texas; his former wife, Tawnya Gail Fondren of Austin; his brothers, Henry Rich Alexander of St. Louis, Missouri and Michael Clay Alexander of Austin, his maternal aunt, Betty Vaughndorf of Savannah, Georgia, and cousins, Amy May of Chicago and Judith Bushkin of Virginia.
The funeral service will be held at 11 o'clock Thursday morning at the graveside, Bonaventure Cemetery, conducted by The Reverend Dr. Drew Corbett.
