Lawrence 'Larry' Mark Oberdank, 86, of Savannah, Georgia and husband of Arlene Catherine Baldini Oberdank, died Monday morning, July 11, 2022, at his home with his family at his side.
Born in Willoughby, Ohio, he was a son of the late Leonard Oberdank and the late Mary Pavlich Oberdank. Larry was of the Catholic faith. He served as a Lieutenant Junior Grade in the United States Naval Intelligence. It was during his country to his service that he met the love of his life, Arlene, who was also serving in the United States Navy. Larry earned his Juris Doctor degree from Case Western Reserve University and practiced law for more than 55 years with an AV rating. After he and Arlene retired to Savannah, he was an arbitrator and mediator. Larry loved his family and was an avid golfer, who also enjoyed reading and learning history and religion.
Surviving are his wife of almost 60 years, Arlene Catherine Baldini Oberdank; his daughter, Karen Smerglia; his two grandsons, Dale A. Smerglia, Jr. and his wife, Alexandra, and Kyle A. Smerglia and his wife, Gretchen; and three great-grandchildren, Adrian, Dahlia and Jaxon.
The funeral service will be held at 11 o'clock Thursday morning, July 14, 2022, in the chapel of Gamble Funeral Service, conducted by the Reverend Gabriel Cummings. Interment, with military honors, will be in the Greenwich section of Bonaventure Cemetery.
