Lawrence \"Larry\" E. Drescher, 81, died on July 5, 2017 at St. Joseph\'s Hospital in Savannah, Georgia. He was born in Watervliet, N.Y. on April 3, 1936. He was the third oldest of eleven children of the late Christopher F. Drescher and Anna Olsey Drescher and the stepson of the late Laura Nolet. Larry also had three half sisters, two half brothers and two step siblings.
Larry served in the U. S. Air Force at Langley VA and retired from Saint Regis Paper Company.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Florietta J. Baker, and is survived by three children, L. Joseph Drescher (Carol) of Savannah, Cheryl Ann Doherty and Steven Drescher (Eileen) of Schenectady, N.Y., seven grandchildren, Larry, Kelly, Michelle, Ashley, Erin, Andrew and Annabelle, five great grandchildren, Joey, Courtney, Gabriel, Katherine and Charlotte, five sisters, Barbara, Marie, Gladys, Alice, and Lorraine, three brothers, Richard, George, and Danny, and a small army of nieces and nephews.
Larry was an avid sports fan and a one-time minor share owner of the Cleveland Indians. He enjoyed calling bingo, playing games and spending time with other seniors at various senior centers and group gatherings.
The family will receive friends from 3 until 5 o'clock Saturday afternoon, July 8, 2017, at Gamble Funeral Service ' 410 Stephenson Avenue.
Christian burial will be in Saint Joseph\'s Cemetery in Waterford, N.Y.
