Laverne Hayslip Hill, 89, of Savannah, Georgia and widow of Kenneth Norman Hill, died Sunday morning, July 13, 2014, at Memorial University Medical Center.
Born in Savannah, Georgia, she was a daughter of the late Elijah James Hayslip and the late Mattie Lou Faircloth Hayslip. Mrs. Hill was a member of Higher Ground Baptist Church which was formerly Cresthill Baptist Church. She retired from Belk after 20 years of service. For the past 12 years she enjoyed being a greeter at the Walmart in Sandfly where she never met a stranger. She loved her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, Jerry and Terry Hill, and one son-in-law, Kenny Rawlins.
Surviving are two daughters, Sheila Albritton and her husband, Billy, of Richmond Hill, Georgia and Becky Rawlins of Savannah, Georgia; eight grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 o'clock Tuesday evening at Gamble Funeral Service ' 410 Stephenson Avenue.
The funeral service will be held at 11 o'clock Wednesday morning at the graveside, Bonaventure Cemetery, conducted by The Reverend Andrew H. Lamon.
