SAVANNAH, GEORGIA - Larry Ira Homansky, 70, of Savannah, Georgia, husband of Anita Joyce Homansky, died Tuesday evening, May 10, 2011 under the care of Hospice Savannah.
Born in Chattanooga, Tennessee, he was a son of the late Peter Homansky and the late Estelle Loebenstein Homansky. Larry was a member of Congregation Mickve Israel and was a United States Air Force Veteran. He was a salesman at Belk's Department Store and was a retired, well-loved school crossing guard at Marshpoint Elementary School and also worked with volunteers in policing. Larry attended classes in the 62 plus program Armstrong Atlantic State University and had a great interest in Science and Civil War History. He loved the New York Mets like they were his own family. Larry dearly loved his wife, children and grandchildren and will be sadly missed by many loving friends.
Surviving are his wife of thirty six years, Anita Joyce Goldman Homansky of Savannah, Georgia; one son, Eric Homansky and his wife, Kristy, of Smyrna, Georgia; one grandson, Benjamin Noah Homansky; one sister, Bette Homansky Kaye and her husband, Jack, of Boynton Beach, Florida and many loving nieces, nephews and cousins.
The funeral service will be held at 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon at the graveside, Bonaventure Cemetery, conducted by Rabbi Avigdor Slatus.
The family will sit Shiva at the residence.
