SAVANNAH, GEORGIA - Klara Chernyak, 95, of Savannah, Georgia, widow of Iona Elberg, died Friday afternoon, May 28, 2010, at Candler Hospital.
Born in Russia, she was a daughter of the late Abraham Chernyak and the late Musya Zlatnik Chernyak. Mrs. Chernyak was of the Jewish faith and was an industrial engineer. After moving to the United States she was a seamstress for John B. Rourke Clothiers for more than twenty years.
Surviving are two daughters, Matilda Shkirenko and Alisa Balakhashvili, both of Savannah, Georgia; two grandsons, Alexander Shkirenko and Lenny Shkirenko; one sister, Tauba Berezhinskaya of Savannah, Georgia; three nieces and one nephew.
The funeral service will be held at 3 o'clock Sunday afternoon at the graveside, Bonaventure Cemetery, conducted by Rabbi Avigdor Slatus.
