Kenneth H. Settzo, 85, of Savannah and husband of Mary Evelyn 'Mel' Settzo, passed away on Saturday, October 12, 2013.
Ken was born in Buffalo, New York and grew up in nearby Kenmore, New York.?? He joined the United States Army after high school and later graduated from the University of Buffalo due to the GI Bill.?? In 1951 he started working for Union Carbide and he married his first wife Jane Borchard, who predeceased him in 1977. ??He worked for the Carbon Products Division of Union Carbide in Niagara Falls, New York and New York City for 34 years.?? He raised a family in White Plains, New York before retiring to Savannah, Georgia in 1985.
Ken was a life-long active member of the Christian Science church serving in numerous positions throughout the years.?? A sports enthusiast and avid golfer, he passed the love of the game on to his son.
In addition to his wife of 26 years, Mary Evelyn Tyler Settzo, he is survived by his children Barbara Settzo, Carolyn Settzo (Jim O'Reilly), Alan Settzo (Anne Marie Foran), stepchildren William Buckingham, Jr. and Whitney Buckingham Hinely (Paul), grandchildren Amanda Hinely & Christopher Hinely, and two great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 11 o'clock Saturday morning, November 2, 2013, at First Church of Christ, Scientist - 211 East Victory Drive in Savannah.
