Kenneth 'Ken' Coleman Nettles, 83, of Savannah, Georgia, died Tuesday afternoon, December 24, 2019, at his home with his family by his side.



Born in Savannah, Georgia, he was a United States Navy veteran. Ken was baptized at Isle of Hope Baptist Church and he visited Jasper Springs Baptist Church in Garden City. He retired after 38 years at Union Camp Corp as a chemical technician. Ken was a member of American Legion Post 135 and the Elks Lodge.



He was preceded in death by his parents, Jefferson Coleman Nettles and Eugenia Volks Nettles, and his first wife, Jeannette Fields Nettles.



Surviving are his wife of 44 years, Geraldine 'Jerry' Garrett Nettles; three daughters, Susan Denise Toole (Danny) of Pooler, Georgia, Carol Renee Nettles of Pooler, Georgia, and Bobbie Helmly (Stan) of Rincon, Georgia; three sons, Kenneth Christopher Nettles (Susan) and Eric Jason Nettles, all of Savannah, Georgia, and James Edward Johnson of Atlanta, Georgia; twelve grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a brother, Don K. Nettles (Von) of Powder Springs, Georgia; a sister, Jollys Elizabeth Golleher (Bill) of Perryville, Arkansas, and several nieces and nephews.



The family will receive friends from 2 until 3 o'clock Sunday afternoon, December 29, 2019, at Jasper Springs Baptist Church ' 62 Smith Avenue, Garden City.



A memorial service will be at 3 o'clock Sunday afternoon, December 29, 2019, at Jasper Springs Baptist Church. Interment will be private.
