Kay Byrd Curl, 74, of Savannah, Ga, passed away peacefully at home with family Monday, May 16, 2022. Kay was born August 11, 1947 in Savannah to Benjamin (B.T.) and Florence Byrd. She met her husband, Benny Curl, while attending Jenkins High School and they were united in marriage August 7, 1966. They were married for 56 happy years and had 3 children, Cynthia, Stephanie, and Shawn. Their early years of marriage were spent raising their family in the Peachtree City area where they made many dear lifelong friends. Kay was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She had a passion for her family and friends. Kay was steadfast in her faith as a Seventh-Day Adventist and for 47 years shared and taught her love for Christ with the youngest in the church. She was lovingly known by her grandkids and other children as Kay-K.
The purchase of the family business, Byrd Cookie Company, brought Kay and her family back to Savannah in 1988. Kay was known by Byrd employees for her attention to detail, high standards and creative flair. Her loving and supportive nature led others to never want to disappoint.
In addition to her parents, Kay was predeceased by her son, Shawn. Kay is survived by her husband Benny and their daughters Cynthia Harn and Stephanie Lindley (Jim); grandchildren Phillip Curl, Jonathan Curl, Jack Harn, Jennifer Lindley, and Jamie Lindley (Spencer); and her sisters Vicki Rahn (Larry) and Pam Reifsnyder (Steve).
Visitation will be held Saturday, May 21, 2022, 5-7 p.m., at Gamble Funeral Service.
Funeral service will be held Sunday May 22, 2022, 2 p.m., at Savannah First Seventh-Day Adventist Church, 50 Godley Way, Savannah, Ga. 31407.
