SAVANNAH, GEORGIA - Kathryn Stokes Parnell, 92, of Savannah, Georgia and widower of Henry Ashley Parnell, died Tuesday morning, August 28, 2012, at Tara at Thunderbolt and under the care of Hospice Savannah.



Born in Florence, South Carolina, she was a daughter of the late Harry James Stokes and the late Kathryn Graddick Stokes. Mrs. Parnell was a charter member of Calvary Baptist Church in Florence, South Carolina and has been a member of Southside Baptist Church since moving to Savannah. She was a retired respiratory therapist at McLeod Infirmary in Florence. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Lorrene Stokes, and three brothers, G. H. Stokes, Graddick Stokes and Arthur Lee Stokes.



Surviving are two daughters, Pat Matthews and her husband, Dick, and Sterling Kelley and her husband, Tom, all of Savannah, Georgia; four grandchildren, Leigh Powers and her husband, John, Kelly Childree and her husband, Kevin, Tonya Kelley and Tricia Kelley-Learman; six great-grandchildren, Victoria, Madison, Tucker, Matthew, Kip and Madalynn, and one sister, Lillian Ward of Knoxville, Tennessee.



The family will receive friends from 10 until 11 o'clock Wednesday morning at Southside Baptist Church.



The funeral service will be held at 11 o'clock Wednesday morning at Southside Baptist Church conducted by The Reverend Dr. Allan W. Bosson.



A graveside service will be held at 1 o'clock Thursday afternoon in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Florence, South Carolina, conducted by The Reverend Mike Mills.
