June McCarthy Banks, 89, of Savannah, Georgia and widow of Hayden Hunter Banks, Jr., died Wednesday evening, December 26, 2012, at St. Joseph's Hospital.
Born in Savannah, Georgia, she was a daughter of the late John C. 'Chief' McCarthy and Addie Bailey McCarthy. Mrs. Banks was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church. She formerly worked for the Corps of Engineers and several law firms in New York and Savannah. Ohma, as she was known to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, enjoyed her time as a volunteer Pink Lady for Candler Hospital.
Surviving are two daughters, Jennifer B. Kolb of Melbourne, Florida, and Julie B. Sublette of Marietta, Georgia; one son, Hayden H. Banks III of Savannah, Georgia; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 12 until 2 o\'clock Sunday afternoon at Gamble Funeral Service - 410 Stephenson Avenue.
The funeral service will be held at 2 o\'clock Sunday afternoon in the chapel of Gamble Funeral Service conducted by The Reverend Craig E. O'Brien. Interment will be at 10 o'clock Monday morning in Hillcrest Abbey Memorial Park - East.
