Julian Hirsch, 96, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, passed away Nov. 10, 2017, at his home in Sweetgrass Village.
A native of Savannah, he was the son of the late Sam and Annie Hirsch. Mr. Hirsch was a devoted husband and loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
Mr. Hirsch was a military veteran. He served his country as a signalman first class in the U.S. Navy during World War II aboard the USS Herbert C. Jones. He later served as a sergeant first class in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.
Mr. Hirsch retired from Cleo Wrap in Memphis, Tennessee, in 1992, where he was the warehouse superintendent.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Celia Haysman Hirsch; three brothers; and three sisters.
Survivors include a sister, Sonya Diamond of Savannah; a daughter, Judy Sherman and her husband, Brian, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina; a son, Edwin Hirsch, of Memphis, Tennessee; two grandchildren, Becca Tessler and her husband, Brad, of Olathe, Kansas, and Matt Sherman of Atlanta; and two great-grandchildren.
The graveside service will be held at noon Nov. 12, at Bonaventure Cemetery, conducted by Rabbi Steven Henkin.
