Judith 'Judy' Roberta Lindenbaum Maltenfort, 83, of Savannah, Georgia and widow of Lee Jacob Maltenfort, died Friday, July 2, 2021, at St. Joseph's Hospital.
Born in New York, NY, she was a daughter of the late Paul and Gertrude Lindenbaum.
Judy was creative her entire life. She studied theatrical costume design at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City.?? After marrying Lee, she went into business with her mother-in-law Pauline operating the needlepoint crafts store 'The Knitting Center' in Millburn, New Jersey. ??After that store closed, Judy and Lee were partners in 'The Upstairs Maids,' making life-sized soft sculptures that resembled Victorian-era maids, butlers, chefs and chauffeurs.?? They came to Savannah in 1992 and had a studio for several years at the City Market Art Center.
Judy was preceded in death by her husband Lee, who passed in 2018.?? After his passing, she moved to Savannah Commons, now the Social at Savannah, and was known for her handmade jewelry, her humor, her love of Broadway theatre, and her personal fashion sense.
Survivors include her son, Mitchell Maltenfort, and his wife, Jennifer Davis Maltenfort of Philadelphia, PA.
The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 o\'clock Thursday evening, June 8, 2021, at The Social at Savannah, formerly known as The Savannah Commons - 1 Peachtree Drive.
