Joyce Elizabeth Wilson Kemp, 81, of Savannah, Georgia was called to her heavenly home on October 3, 2013 after a long illness.
Born on October 12, 1931, Joyce was the daughter of the late James W. and Sarah B. Wilson. She devoted many years of her life to Blessed Sacrament School as President of the PTA, Girl Scout leader and director of the Irish Jiggers. She was an avid volunteer of the Board of Elections. Joyce loved to host and entertain. Family and friends were her passion. All that had the pleasure of knowing her were touched by her gentleness and kindness.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Coleman Kemp, Sr. and daughter, Donna Elizabeth 'Beth' Kemp; a sister, Patricia A. Walton and a brother, James W. Wilson.
Surviving are two daughters, Pennie K. Lightfoot (Tommy) and Jennifer J. Kemp (Keith Lopez);?? two sons, Thomas C. Kemp, Jr. (Donna), and James A. Kemp (Terry Kirby; one grandson, Joshua T. Lightfoot all of Savannah; two brothers, Bill B. Wilson (Virlie), of Lakeland, Georgia, and Donald A. Wilson (Nancy), of Guyton, and special family members including, Captain Eddie T. Williams and his wife, Carol J. Williams; Jan J. Aikens (George) all of Green Cove Springs, Florida and James W. Wilson (Sue) of Savannah.
The family will receive friends from 2 until 4 o'clock Sunday October 6th at Gamble Funeral Service ' 410 Stephenson Avenue.
The funeral service will be held at 11 o'clock Monday October 7th in the chapel of Gamble Funeral Home officiated by The Reverend Earnie T. Pirkle. Interment will be in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
The family would like to express their sincerest gratitude to Florence Groover and the members of the THA Group, Fresenius Dialysis, and caregiver, Paul Carellas. Their dedication and effort to provide compassionate care were a blessing to the entire family.
