SAVANNAH, GEORGIA - Joseph Francis "Bubba" Tilton III, 58, of Savannah, Georgia, died Friday morning, November 11, 2011, at his home.
Born in Savannah, Georgia, he was a son of Joseph Francis Tilton, Jr. and Freddie Hodges Tilton. Bubba was a communicant of St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church. He attended Nativity School, Benedictine Military School and graduated from Jenkins High School. Bubba was formerly with Delta Air Lines, Eastern Air Lines, and an owner of a travel agency in Pensacola, Florida. He later worked for the Georgia Ports Authority ILA Local 1475. Bubba enjoyed fishing, boating, following Georgia football and was an avid golfer who won the City Amateur Golf Tournament in 1981.
Survivors include one daughter, Jacqueline "Jacky" Nicole Tilton of Bowdon, Georgia; one son, Joseph "Joey" Francis Tilton IV of Bowdon, Georgia; one step-daughter, Lauren Adams of Bowdon, Georgia; his parents of Savannah; one sister, Jan T. Brown and her husband, Frank, of Savannah; one brother, Steven C. Tilton and his wife, Beth, of Savannah, and five nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 o'clock Sunday at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church with the Christian Wake Service being held at 6 o'clock.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12 noon Monday in St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church conducted by Monsignor P. James Costigan and The Reverend Patrick S. O'Brien. Interment will be in the Greenwich Section of Bonaventure Cemetery.
