Joseph 'Joey' Preston Jones, 60, of Savannah, Georgia, and husband of Audrey Lynn Carter Jones, died Sunday afternoon, May 2, 2021, in Redding, California.
Born in Savannah, Georgia, he was a son of the late Putman Vance Jones and the late Patsy Able Jones. Joey was a graduate of Auburn University. He was a godly and gracious man, who served his family and the world humbly and generously. Joey possessed the amazing gift to build the ordinary into extraordinary. His love for his family was apparent and undeniable when he talked about the love of his life, Audrey Lynn, and their three children, Carter, Brit, and Kristi. Joey was a proud father who taught the importance of hard work and goodwill towards others. He never met a stranger, and he had a passion for making others' dreams come true through acts of kindness. Joey was a provider for his family, companion to Max and Zeke, a loyal Braves and Bulldawg fan, an avid golfer, and an adventurous traveler. To say he will be missed is an understatement, as he truly made the world a better place. In honor of Joey, pay it forward. If you see a service member in uniform, treat them to a meal because that is exactly what he would do.
