Joseph Hoffman, 84, of Savannah, Georgia and husband of Veronica Gyulai Hoffman, died Tuesday afternoon, April 23, 2013, at St. Joseph's Hospital.
Born in Beregszasz, Hungary, he was the son of the late Aaron Hoffman and the late Berta Adler Hoffman. Mr. Hoffman was a survivor of the Holocaust and Auschwitz. He was liberated from Bergen-Belsen. Mr. Hoffman was a 30 plus year member of the Lions Club and was the best watchmaker you've ever seen.?? He was an avid reader who also loved classical music and baseball.
Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Veronica Gyulai Hoffman of Savannah; one son, Peter B. Hoffman and his wife, Kim; one daughter, Judith Hoffman Ciacci and her husband, Pierfrancesco; three grandchildren, Paul, Chad and Tommaso, and one great-grandchild, Carolyn.
The funeral service will be held at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon at the graveside, Bonaventure Cemetery, conducted by Rabbi Avigdor Slatus.
