Johnny 'Bird' Redinburg, 67, of Savannah, Georgia, husband of Dorothy G. Redinburg, died Wednesday morning, July 22, 2015, at his home.



Born in Fairfax, South Carolina on June 23, 1948, he was the son of the late Ruben Redingburg and the late Ora Lee Williams Redinburg. Mr. Redinburg was an alumnus of Beach High School in Savannah where he played on the football team as quarterback. He was retired from the Georgia Ports Authority having worked there as a longshoreman for over twenty-five years.



In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a sister, Iris Ann 'Trishann' Redenburg.



Surviving are his wife of over thirty-five years, Dorothy Gene Redinburg of Savannah; his children, Kevin Washington and his wife, Heather, and Aaron Taylor and his wife, Tarsha, all of Savannah, Rashard Taylor, and his wife, Shennia, of Summerville, South Carolina, and Justin Redinburg and Ora Redinburg, both of Savannah; two grandchildren, Kevin Washington, Jr. and Cardin Washington; his sister, Mary Redinburg and her husband Winning Joe Robinson, of Savannah; his brothers, Ruben Redinburg and his wife, Shirley, Andrew Redinburg, Darnell Redinburg, and Orrin Redinburg and his wife, Valencia, all of Savannah; and a number of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.



The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 o'clock on Friday, July 31, 2015, at Gamble Funeral Service ' 410 Stephenson Avenue.



The funeral service will be held at 12 noon Saturday, August 1, 2015 in the chapel of Gamble Funeral Service. Interment will be in Woodville Cemetery.
