John Francis Stabe, Sr., 88, a resident of Buckingham South and husband of Barbara Ann Baxter Stabe, died Thursday afternoon, July 9, 2015, at Candler Hospital.
Born in New York, New York, he was a son of the late Ernest Rudolph Stabe, Sr. and the late Wilhelmina Marguerite Groehl Stabe. Mr. Stabe was a communicant of St. James Catholic Church. He served his country in the Merchant Marines. Mr. Stabe was a retired tile and marble contractor who owned Stabe Corporation.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Ernest Rudolf Stabe Jr, and his beloved aunt, Anne Marie Groehl.
Surviving are his wife of 65 years, Barbara Ann Baxter Stabe of Savannah, Georgia; one son, John F. Stabe, Jr. and his wife, Christine; two daughters, Sharon Ann Kelly and her husband, Robert, and Barbara Ann Allan and her husband, Mark; six grandchildren, Matthew, Patrick, Kathryn, Andrew, Sean and Blair, and five great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 11 o'clock Monday morning at St. James Catholic Church conducted by Father Mark J. Ross.
