SAVANNAH, GEORGIA - John Craig "Crash" Hopkins, 91, of Savannah, Georgia, died Thursday afternoon, February 9, 2012.
Born in Savannah, Georgia, he was a son of the late Christopher Columbus Hopkins and the late Edith Colson Hopkins. John served his country in the United States Navy aboard the USS Frederick Funston in the North African and Sicily campaigns of World War II. He was the co-owner of Crescent Record Shop and Amusement Company on Barnard Street in Savannah. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son, Walter Thomas Hopkins.
Surviving are his wife of sixty four years, Betty Jane Parson Hopkins; a son, Craig Hopkins (Doris); a daughter, Deborah Livingston (Walter); a daughter-in-law, Catherine Hopkins; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 4 until 6 o'clock Sunday afternoon at Gamble Funeral Service - 410 Stephenson Avenue.
The funeral service will be held at 11 o'clock Monday morning at St. Paul's Episcopal Church conducted by The Very Reverend Dr. William Willoughby III. Interment, with full military honors, will be in Hillcrest Abbey Memorial Park - East.
