John Robert Holmes

SAVANNAH, GEORGIA - John Robert Holmes, 76, of Savannah, Georgia, faithful and loving husband of Gretchen Ruth Heldt Holmes, died Monday evening, October 12, 2009, at Hospice Savannah.
Mr. Holmes was born in Ames, Iowa, to the late Bryan Robert Holmes and the late Grace Sowerwine Holmes. John was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church where he served on the Evangelism Board. He was a former member of the Kiwanis Club and was a hospital administrator for many years.
Surviving are his wife of fifty two years, Gretchen Ruth Heldt Holmes of Savannah, Georgia; one daughter, Anne Reddish and her husband, Brady, of Orange Park, Florida; one son, Brian Holmes and his wife, Helen, of Whitefish, Montana; three grandchildren, Destiny, Cody and Colton, and one brother, Dr. Charles Holmes and his wife, Winnefred, of Elkader, Iowa.
The funeral service will be held at 11 o'clock Wednesday morning, October 21, 2009, at Trinity Lutheran Church conducted by The Reverend John R. Hopkins. Interment will be private.
