John 'Jack' Reeves Davenport, 94, of Savannah, Georgia and husband of Elisabeth 'Betty' Burrage Davenport, died Sunday afternoon, January 6, 2019, at Morningside of Savannah.
Born in Savannah, Georgia, he was the son of the late Samuel Murdoc Davenport and the late Jane Reeves Owens. Jack was a member for more than 50 years of St. Thomas Episcopal Church, where he was a former member of the Vestry, a lay reader, and a lay eucharistic minister. He was a World War II veteran with the United States Coast Guard. Jack retired from Cut Art Stone Company a patternmaker and foreman of the pattern shop. His vocation and passion was woodworking.
Surviving are his wife of almost 67 years, Elisabeth 'Betty' Davenport; one daughter, Marilyn D. Smith and her husband, Gene, of San Diego, California; one son, John Burrage Davenport of Richmond, Virginia; four grandchildren, Michelle Smith, Melanie Smith, Tanya D. Gibson and Joshua Davenport, and three great-granddaughters.
The memorial service will be held at 3 o'clock Saturday afternoon at St. Thomas Episcopal Church.
