SAVANNAH, GEORGIA - Mr. John J. "Jack" Brady died Thursday, March 25, 2010, at his residence at Savannah Square. He was 93. Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas J. Brady, Sr. and Ellen Kelly Brady; and his sister Ellen "Nellie" Brady Moore.
A Savannah native, Jack grew up near Troup Square downtown. He was a graduate of Marist School for Boys in Savannah; Savannah High School; and Columbia University, part of Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C.
Jack was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Naval Intelligence from 1944-1946. He served in the Middle East and Mediterranean areas, and at the American Embassy in Cairo, Egypt. He retired as Chief Accountant, U.S. Department of Immigrations, Washington, D.C., in 1971 after 35 years of federal government service. He was member of St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church in Savannah.
Jack is survived by three sisters: Rose Brady Carter, Savannah, GA; Mary Louise Brady Larison, Chester, PA; and Anne Brady Cooper, Kansas City, MO; one brother, Thomas J. Brady, Jr., Savannah, GA; and many nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, March 30, at 1 p.m. at St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church. Private burial will follow at the Catholic Cemetery. Remembrances: St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church, 11500 Middleground Rd., Savannah, GA 31419.
