Joanna McSwain Counts, 79, of Savannah, Georgia, wife of Bobby Earl Counts, Sr., died Sunday evening, February 28, 2021, at Hospice Savannah.
Born in Thomaston, Georgia, she was a daughter of the late Terrell Harrison McSwain and the late Anna Ophelia Storey McSwain. Joanna was a member of the Presbyterian Church. She was formerly employed with Woeltjen Insurance Agency, Southeastern Maritime Company and Memorial Medical Center (now Memorial University Medical Center). Joanna loved to collect, especially antique glass. She enjoyed gospel music and was a former quartet player.
Surviving include her husband, Bobby Earl Counts, Sr. of Savannah, Georgia; one daughter, Joanna Deborah 'Debbie' Gladin King and her husband, Robert, of Savannah, Georgia; one son, Joel Dupree Gladin, Jr. and his wife, Julie, of Pooler, Georgia; one brother, Terrell Vance McSwain and his wife, Brenda, of Hinesville, Georgia; four grandchildren, Audrey King, Katey Gladin, Amanda King and Andrew King; one step-daughter, Elizabeth 'Beth' Counts of Savannah, Georgia; two step-sons, Bobby 'Bubba' Counts, Jr. and his wife, Susan, of Effingham County and Charles Counts of Savannah, Georgia, and a number of nieces and nephews.
The memorial service will be held at 2:30 Tuesday afternoon, March 9, 2021, in the chapel of Gamble Funeral Service ' 410 Stephenson Avenue.
