Joan O'Sullivan Gore left this earth to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on April 22, 2023.
Joan was born in Spartanburg, SC on March 16, 1930 to W.B. O'Sullivan and Faye O'Sullivan. She was predeceased by her husband, Monnie L. Gore (married September 18, 1948) and her sister, Elizabeth O'Sullivan.
She is survived by her two sons, Monnie L. Gore (Theresa) of Manitou Springs, Colorado and Stephen A. Gore (Susan) of Savannah, Georgia. She was also survived by six grandchildren, Stephanie Ray, Hannah Pacheco, Cody Gore, Audrey Urban, Lee Warren, and David Gore, as well as six great-grandchildren.
Married to a career military man (Air Force) she faithfully followed him to New Mexico, Austin, Texas, Savannah, Georgia, K.I. Sawyer AFB, Michigan, Chanute AFB, Illinois, and Warren AFB, Wisconsin. After Monnie's retirement in 1969, they returned to Savannah, Georgia.
Joan worked at various jobs during her life, from recreational park lady, sales clerk, secretarial work to finally working as an IRS auditor.
Joan was a longtime member of Bull Street Baptist and the Nelson Sunday School class.
Joan had a gracious, generous spirit - always welcoming family and friends to her home. You never left her house without hearing, "What can I give you to take home?" She loved spending time with her grandchildren and will be greatly missed by family, neighbors, and friends.
The family will receive friends from 11 to 1 o'clock Saturday, May 6, 2023, at Gamble Funeral Service - 410 Stephenson Avenue.
The memorial service will follow at 1 o'clock Saturday, May 6, 2023, in the chapel of Gamble Funeral Service, conducted by the Reverend Charles Dumas, Jr.
