Joan Brooker Barrenbrugge died on Monday, July 1, 2013 at home.
She was born and raised in Savannah, educated at 38th Street School, Richard Arnold Junior High, Savannah High School and Armstrong Junior College. Her 44-year work career began as secretary to Mr. Jack Levy of Levy Jewelers and ended as an executive secretary to several top executives of Savannah Foods & Industries, Inc. (Dixie Crystals).?? She was so proud of the wonderful and lasting friendships she made over the years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James H. Barrenbrugge, Jr., and her parents, L. Archibald Brooker and Ruby Kemp Brooker and also her much loved aunt, Louise Kemp Stanley.
Survivors include her beloved daughters and sons-in-law, Lisa B. and R. Joseph Rowland of Savannah and Tracy B. and Nicholas Mueller of Guyton and her cherished granddaughters, Katlyn E. and Lindsey A. Rowland. She is also survived by her sister, Katherine 'Tina' B. Kiger of Savannah, GA., sister-in-law and her husband, Joyce B. and Richard B. Crosby of Hardeeville, S.C. and many close nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews and cousins.?????? JBB/jbb
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 o'clock Monday evening at Gamble Funeral Service ' 410 Stephenson Avenue.
The memorial service will be held at 10 o'clock Tuesday morning in the chapel of Gamble Funeral Service conducted by The Reverend John A. Haney. Private interment will be held in Bluffton, S. C. in the Bluffton City Cemetery.
