Jimmy Ray Mobley, 75, of Savannah, Georgia and husband of Patricia 'Patty' Garrison Mobley, died Friday evening, August 3, 2018, at his home with his family by his side.
Born in Millen, Georgia, he was a son of the late James Ray Mobley and the late Paula Sue Hillis Harley. Jimmy was a member of Compassion Christian Church and a former member of Isle of Hope Baptist Church and Cokesbury United Methodist Church. At Cokesbury, he was instrumental in starting the Children's Church program and was co-chairman of the Building Committee when the sanctuary was built in 1970. Jimmy served in the United States Marine Corps Reserves. Jimmy worked in the auto parts industry most of his adult life retiring from Mote-Osborne and Associates. In his retirement, he started Jim Mobley Lawn Care that he worked until his health started failing. He finished up his working career with his son-in-law at Andy's Lawn Machinery.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Patricia 'Patty' Garrison Mobley; two daughters, Jenny Mobley Best and her husband, Steven, and Melinda Mobley Gale and her husband, Gary; four grandchildren, Dylan Gale, Graysen Gale, Madison Best and Mason Best; one brother, Jerry Mobley (Emily Ettinger), and his fur babies who thought they were his children, Chipper Jones and Pollyanna.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 o\'clock Tuesday evening at Gamble Funeral Service - 410 Stephenson Avenue.
The funeral service will be held at 11 o'clock Wednesday morning in the chapel of Gamble Funeral Service conducted by The Reverend Ken Philbeck. Interment will be in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
