Jewell Miller McCorkel, 86, of Savannah, Georgia and widow of Swinton Alvin 'Mac' McCorkel, died Saturday evening, September 1, 2018, at Azalealand Nursing Home.
Born in Statesboro, Georgia, she was a daughter of the late Rufus P. Miller, Sr. and the late Norma Lee Miller. Mrs. McCorkel was a longtime member of Bible Baptist Church where she was a former Sunday school secretary. She graduated high school from Georgia Teachers College in Statesboro. Mrs. McCorkel retired as the credit manager for Western Auto after 25 years. She had a heart for animals. Mrs. McCorkel enjoyed the time she spent with family, traveling and crafting ceramics.
In addition to her husband of 43 years and her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Rufus P. Miller, Jr.
Survivors include her daughter, Sherry McCorkel Farrell and her husband, Pat, of Savannah, Georgia; three grandchildren, Nicholas Robinson and his wife, Courtney, John Patrick Farrell and Timothy Chase Farrell, and three great-grandchildren, Chandler Robinson, Jacey Robinson and Charlotte Robinson.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 Wednesday at Gamble Funeral Service ' 410 Stephenson Avenue.
A private funeral service will be held on Thursday at the graveside.
