Frances Jean Mincey Rubnitz, 83, of Savannah, Georgia and widow of Irvin 'Sonny' Rubnitz, died Saturday morning, June 9, 2018, at Buckingham South.



Born in Savannah, Georgia, she was a daughter of the late Birnie Jefferson Mincey and the late Pearl Mae Barton Mincey. Mrs. Rubnitz was a longtime member of Congregation Bnai Brith Jacob. She was a pre-k teacher at the Jewish Educational Alliance for more than 15 years. Afterwards, Mrs. Rubnitz was with Regency Jewelers and then owned and operated Jean's Jewelry Showcase, where she was known as the 'Jewelry Lady.' She later worked with her husband at their business, Senior Citizens Claims and Services. She and Sonny were always the first on the dance floor and gave lessons when they were younger.



In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Timothy 'Tim' Joseph Rubnitz.



She is survived by a daughter, Debbie Cohen and her daughters, Rachael Currie and her husband, Malcolm, and Hannah Brown and her husband, Zachery; a son, David Rubnitz and his wife, Rene', and their daughter, Heather Willingham and her husband, Robbie; two sisters, Ruth Markowitz and her husband, Dr. Neal, and Peggy Schultz and her husband, Jack, and nieces and nephews.



The funeral service will be held at 3 o'clock Sunday afternoon at the graveside, Bonaventure Cemetery, conducted by Rabbi Avigdor Slatus.



The family will sit Shiva at the family home - 509 McLaws Street, Savannah.



She and Sonny lived at Buckingham South and would like to thank the staff there for the love and kindness shown to them since they moved there in 2008.
