Jay Epstein, 58, of Savannah, Georgia, and husband of Donna Pollack Epstein, died Saturday morning, May 7, 2022, at St. Joseph's Hospital.
Born in Savannah, Georgia, he was a son of the late Elliott and Sarah Epstein. Jay was a co-owner of NLAWS Foods for twenty years and the newly formed NLAWS Refrigerated Port Services. He enjoyed astronomy and tracking the routes of aircraft and cargo ships. Jay was an avid fan of the Georgia Bulldogs basketball and football teams, the Atlanta Braves and Falcons. He also loved to watch Formula 1 racing, particularly driver, Max Verstappen, as well as watching Tiger Woods play golf, and he especially enjoyed watching RedZone with his honored guest in the Cave. Jay enjoyed fishing and boating on the Herb and Wilmington Rivers. He was a past president and current member of Congregation Bnai Brith Jacob. He served as an executive member of Rambam Day School, the Board of the Brotherhood of Bnai Brith Jacob, and was a member of the Chevra Kadisha. Jay was a master of quoting his favorite shows, especially the Three Stooges, Perry Mason, and South Park. He loved the holidays, particularly Chanukah, and also spending time with his family, friends, and golden retriever, Skipper.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Norman Epstein and Hymie Epstein, and father-in-law, Gerald Pollack.
Survivors include his wife of 24 years, Donna Pollack Epstein; son, Richard Epstein; mother-in-law, Riette Pollack; sister-in-laws, Jan Epstein and Shelley Kaplan and her husband Steven Kaplan, Jay's business partner of almost twenty years; brother-in-law, Irwin Pollack (Katie); a brother, David Epstein; a sister, Rosalyn Campbell (Bert); and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held at 12:30 Monday afternoon, May 9, 2022, at the graveside, Bonaventure Cemetery, conducted by Rabbi Avigdor Slatus.
