Jasper Newton McLeod, Jr., 94, of Savannah, Georgia and husband of Myrtice Lavonne Hammock McLeod, died Tuesday evening, September 15, 2020, at his home with his family by his side.



Born in Springfield, Georgia, he was a son of the late Jasper Newton McLeod, Sr. and the late Lavenia Rahn McLeod. Jasper was a United States Air Force veteran having served in the Korean War. He was a charter member of the Association of Flying Air National Guards, American Legion Post 184 and WOW. Jasper worked for the Savannah and Atlanta Railroad for twenty years and was a member of the United Transportation Union. He served as Secretary of Local 1031 Conventions and General Chairman of the Savannah and Atlanta Railroad. He was a member of the Church of Christ in Rincon and the Central Church of Christ in Savannah.



In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Myrtice Ford (Eustace) and Dora Arnsdorff (Edwin).



Surviving are his wife, Myrtice Lavonne Hammock McLeod; four sons, Jerry Newton McLeod, Kenneth Ray McLeod and his wife, Judy, Gary Wayne McLeod, and Barry S. McLeod; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.



The family will receive friends from 11 until 12 noon Saturday, September 19, 2020, at Gamble Funeral Service ' 410 Stephenson Avenue.



The funeral service will be held at 12 noon Saturday, September 19, 2020, in the chapel of Gamble Funeral Service. Interment will be in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
