SAVANNAH, GEORGIA - Janet Silverman Reed, 76, of Savannah, Georgia, wife of Irwin Reed, died Wednesday morning, November 16, 2011, at Memorial University Medical Center.
Born in Savannah, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late Louis Silverman and the late Ruth Weiser Silverman. Mrs. Reed was a member of Congregation Bnai Brith Jacob and was a former president of the BBJ Sisterhood and a member of Hadassah. She was a teacher and the bookkeeper of Reed Dental Lab. Mrs. Reed enjoyed playing Mah Jong and Scrabble. She was preceded in death by her brother, Harry Silverman.
Surviving are her husband of 53 years, Irwin Reed of Savannah; two sons, Michael Reed, and his wife, Vanessa, of Oakland, California and Joel Reed and his wife, Katie, of Saratoga Springs, New York; one grandson, Jacob Reed of Santa Cruz, California; one brother, Raymond Silverman and his wife, Renee, of Savannah; and one sister-in-law, Fay Silverman of Savannah.
The funeral service will be held at 10 o'clock Friday morning at the graveside, Bonaventure Cemetery, conducted by Rabbi Avigdor Slatus.
