James Cecil Thaggard,

SAVANNAH, GEORGIA -  James Cecil Thaggard, Jr., 82, husband of Martha Melton Thaggard, died July 13, 2012 at Memorial Health University Medical Center.
Born in Atlanta, Georgia he was a son of the late James Cecil Thaggard, Sr. and the late Lucy Rae Rushing Thaggard. James was a member of St. Francis of the Islands Episcopal Church and served his country in the United States Army. He graduated from the University of Georgia in 1952 and was the owner and operator of Thaggard's Pharmacy for many years. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a daughter, Donna Rae Thaggard and one brother, Jerry R. Thaggard.
Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Martha Melton Thaggard; two daughters, Teresa Thaggard Coon (Michael), Renee Thaggard Stuart ( Doug); one son, Mark Earl Thaggard (Irene); seven grandchildren, Erin Stuart, Neil Stuart, Ashley Brigdon (Hunter), Shelly Stewart, Kaleigh Coon, Alex and T.J. Michnicki; one great grand daughter, Catherine Stuart, and one brother, William R. Thaggard (Denna).
The family will receive friends from 4 until 6 o'clock Saturday afternoon at Gamble Funeral Service - 410 Stephenson Avenue.
The funeral service will be held at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon at St. Francis of the Islands Episcopal Church conducted by The Reverend Stephen Norris. Interment will be in St. Francis of the Islands Memorial Gardens.
