James Junior Mccown

James Junior McCown, 83, of Ellabell, Georgia and husband of Ruth McCown, died Monday afternoon, September 17, 2018 at St. Joseph's Hospital.



Born in Charleston, West Virginia, he was the son of the late James Alfred McCown and Mary Virginia McCown. Mr. McCown was a veteran of the United States Navy, having served in the Korean War. He retired from Gulfstream after 25 years of service, where he worked in the position that he created, requisitions of aircraft parts. Mr. McCown lived in Ellabell since 1993 and loved hunting and fishing.



Surviving are his wife of sixty-three years, Ruth Charlotte McCown of Ellabell; three daughters, Charlotte Adams and her husband, Morris, of Ellabell, Mary Evans and her husband, Wayne, of Ellabell, and Edna Long and her husband, Harold, of Hardeeville, South Carolina; his sister, Wanda Jean Knox of Ravenswood, West Virginia; five grandchildren, John Adams, Rebecca Adams, Selena Fox, Donald Evans, and Wesley Long; ten great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.



The funeral service will be held at 11 o'clock Thursday morning, September 20, 2018, at the graveside, Evergreen Baptist Church Cemetery between Metter and Claxton.
