James Thomas Jenkins, 92, of Savannah, Georgia and widower of Lena Holland Lassiter Jenkins, died Wednesday afternoon, April 14, 2021, at Georgia War Veterans Nursing Home in Augusta, Georgia.
Born in Sardis, Georgia, he was a son of the late Benjamin Dwight Jenkins and Mary Elizabeth Holland Jenkins. Mr. Jenkins was a communicant of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He was a United States Army veteran having served in the Korean Conflict. Mr. Jenkins was a retired residential and commercial carpenter.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Betty Odom, Myrtle Johnson, and Sherry Tanner, and two brothers, Franklin Jenkins and J. D. Jenkins.
Surviving are his daughter and son-in-law, Teresa and Louis Phillips of Savannah, Georgia, and two grandchildren, Jennifer Barnhouse and her husband, Mike, of Johns Creek, Georgia, and Christopher Phillips and his wife, Anya, of Wilmington, Delaware; great-granddaughter, Meredith Barnhouse of Johns Creek, Georgia; four sisters, Ellen McDilda, Lois Prickett, Eva Nell Ellison and her husband, Gene, and Barbara Hamilton and her husband, Herman; two brothers, Louis Jenkins and his wife, Sara, and Hazel Jenkins and his wife, Marie, and many nieces and nephews.
The graveside service will be held at 10 o\'clock Saturday morning, May 1, 2021, at the Catholic Cemetery conducted by Father Liam Collins.
The family would like to express their sincere thanks to Zelma Frazier for the loving care she gave Mr. Jenkins while he was in Savannah and to the Georgia War Veterans Nursing Home in Augusta for the care and attention given to Mr. Jenkins.
