James 'Jimmie' Elliott Henderson III, 87 years, passed away Saturday, December 10, 2016, at home with his family. He was a lifelong resident of Chatham County and attended local schools. He was a Funeral Director and Vice President of the Irvine C. Henderson Funeral Home, the family business. He was a lifelong member of Christ Church Anglican.
He was predeceased by his parents, Irvine C. Henderson, Sr. and Maude B. Henderson; a sister Louise H. Koehn, and a brother, Irvine C. Henderson, Jr.
He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Juanita 'Nita' Shuman Henderson; his two sons, Jimmy IV (Susan) and Mark S. Henderson; two grandsons, Jimmy V (Christina S. Henderson) and Hunter (Joy N. Henderson); six great-grandchildren, Faith Marie, Jadyn Leigh, Taylor Grace, Thomas Wyatt, Jace Wallace and Joyner Martin Henderson, all of Richmond Hill, Georgia.
He served with the Georgia National Guard, 148 Artillery Division C Battery as a Master Sergeant for a number of years. Jimmie was an avid golfer, an outstanding baseball and half rubber player, but his true passion was passing down his knowledge and the love of the games to his grandsons.
Most of all he loved his family and celebrating Christmas and birthdays. He will be greatly missed.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 o'clock Monday evening at Gamble Funeral Service ' 410 Stephenson Avenue.
The funeral service will be held at 11 o'clock Tuesday morning, December 13, 2016, at the graveside, Greenwich section of Bonaventure Cemetery, conducted by The Reverend Dr. Marcus B. Robertson, Rector of Christ Church Anglican.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jack Crumley, Don Funderburk and Chris Simon.
