James Gregory Davis,

d. October 28, 2015

James Gregory Davis, of Orlando, Florida died suddenly in Savannah, Georgia, on Wednesday, October 28, 2015, on his way home from visiting his mother in Edenton, North Carolina.

James was born in Takoma Park, Maryland, on January 19, 1963, to David Richard Davis, Sr. and Sylvia Faye Davis of Rockville, Maryland.

James is survived by his mother: Sylvia Faye Davis (Faye) of Edenton, North Carolina; his brothers: David Richard Davis, Jr. ('Rich') of Silver Spring, Maryland, and Edward Randall Davis ('Randy') of Wenatchee, Washington; his sister: Melanie Davis Posada of Edenton, North Carolina; his sons: Bradley Austin Davis of Orlando, Florida; James Gregory Davis, Jr. ('Jay') of Chandler, Arizona; and Caleb David Davis, of Orlando, Florida; and his three stepchildren, whom he loved as his own: Tracy Miller, Crystal Anne Goodman and Jonathan Robert Cox. He was predeceased by his father, David Richard Davis, Sr.

As a child, James (known as 'Jamie' to his family) attended meetings at the Kingdom Hall in Rockville, where he worshipped with his family and came to know and love his heavenly father, Jehovah God. As he grew physically and spiritually, he began preparing and giving short talks on the Theocratic Ministry School, made the Truth his own, and dedicated his life to Jehovah by water baptism on August 15, 1975.

Upon graduation from Thomas Wootton High School, Jamie began serving full-time in the ministry (as a regular pioneer) and attended Pioneer Service School in August of 1982 with his brother Rich and Rich's wife, Joan. After living nearly forty years in Maryland, Jamie moved to Orlando, Florida, and remained in the Kissimmee/Orlando area until his death. He was currently self-employed, working full-time in auto-detailing to support himself and his family.

Jamie loved Bible truth and his ministry was of utmost importance to him. He enjoyed sharing his faith with those he visited from door-to-door as well as passersby on the street, and he especially loved thoughtful discussions of deeper Bible topics and prophecy. He also loved music from a young age and was a talented guitar-player. He enjoyed fishing and sports. Everyone around him knew he had a razor-sharp wit, he loved making people laugh, and he excelled at it. He was also quite a foodie and enjoyed cooking, baking and watching cooking shows.

While Jamie at times had a gruff exterior, he was also tender-hearted, personable, compassionate and sentimental. Throughout his life, his faith was an anchor for him both through the joys and through the struggles and heartaches. He was fully convinced that Jehovah's promises will become a reality. As indicated at Luke 20:37, 38, Jehovah 'is a God, not of the dead, but of the living, for they are all living to him.' Though now asleep in death, we have every confidence that Jamie is alive in Jehovah's perfect memory. Like Abraham, Isaac and Jacob before him, he is already as good as resurrected to Jehovah, so certain is it to take place.

Jamie's immediate family would like to implore each of you to 'choose life so that you may live,' (Deuteronomy 30:19) and please be among those who are there to welcome him back in the coming resurrection. We hope to experience the joy of being there when Jamie 'hears his voice and comes out'! (John 5:28, 29)
