SAVANNAH, GEORGIA -James Anthony Brannen, 62, of Savannah, Georgia, husband of Pong Nam Brannen, died Sunday morning, October 25, 2009, following a courageous battle with cancer at Hospice Savannah.
Mr. Brannen was born June 11, 1947 in Savannah, Georgia, to the late Walter and Hazel Brannen. He attended Chatham County Schools until age 14 when he moved to Wilmington, Delaware. James graduated from Brandywine High School in 1965. He then graduated from Georgia Southern College in 1969 with a degree in History Education. James served in the United States Navy from 1970 to 1973 and was stationed in Wilmington, Delaware. He was a member of Ancient Landmark Lodge #231 A. & F. M. In 1985 James married Pong Nam. He worked for D.J. Powers Co. Inc. as a DL Specialist.
Surviving are his wife, Pong Nam Brannen of Savannah, Georgia; one brother, William Brannen and his wife Chi, of Atlanta, Georgia; one step-son, Edward Duntz and his wife Julie, of Lincoln, Nebraska; two step- grandchildren, Spencer and Schuyler Duntz; one niece, Jane and one nephew, Tommy.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 o'clock Wednesday evening at Gamble Funeral Service, 410 Stephenson Avenue.
The funeral service will be held at 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon at the graveside, Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
