SAVANNAH, GEORGIA - James Earl Bedgood, Jr., 72, of Savannah, Georgia and husband of Linda Hester Bedgood, made his transition on Wednesday morning, July 25, 2012, at Hospice Savannah surrounded by his loving family and after a long illness.
Born in Savannah, Georgia, he was a son of the late James Earl Bedgood and Evelyn Worth Bedgood. Mr. Bedgood was of the Pentecostal faith. He was a United States Army Reserve veteran. Mr. Bedgood's 30 year railroad career began with CSX and ended when he retired as an engineer with Amtrak. He enjoyed fishing and blue grass music.
Surviving are his wife of fifty two years, Linda Hester Bedgood of Savannah; four daughters, Deborah Harn and her husband, Allan, and Theresa Bishop and her husband, George, all of Rincon, Pamela Fisher of Pooler, and Kaylee Bedgood of Savannah; two sons, James E. Bedgood III with Gregg R. Anderson and William T. Walker and his wife, Wendy, all of Savannah; eleven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two brothers, Joseph Bedgood and his wife, Faye, and Glenn Bedgood and his wife, Frances, all of Savannah, and one sister, Glenda Knowles and her husband, Jimmy, all of Savannah.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 o'clock Thursday evening at Gamble Funeral Service - 410 Stephenson Avenue.
The funeral service will be held at 12 noon in the chapel of Gamble Funeral Service conducted by The Reverend Marci H. Bourland. Interment will be in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
