James Samuel 'Jimmy' Barrowman III, 73, of Thunderbolt, Georgia and husband of Mary Pead Barrowman, died Friday morning, June 6, 2014, at his home surrounded by his family and under the care of Hospice Savannah.
Born in Savannah on February 2, 1941, he was the son of the late James Samuel Barrowman, Jr. and Ruth Marice Helmly Barrowman.?? Jimmy was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church. He was a United States Navy veteran having served on the USS Nereus. Jimmy was a retired master plumber and superintendent having worked with the same company that his father retired from, Erickson Associates, Inc., for over fifty years.?? He was a former member of the Thunderbolt Men's Club. Jimmy loved working in his garden and was known for his tomatoes.
Surviving are his wife of forty-nine years, Mary Pead Barrowman of Thunderbolt; three daughters, Crystal Garcia of Charleston, South Carolina, Lisa Gregory of Savannah and Amy Conners of Thunderbolt; a sister, Josette Clifton and her husband, Philip, of Midway; five grandchildren, Chelsea Stuart, Taylor Gregory, Jimmy Uitich, Amber Garcia and Meghan Garcia; several great-grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews, and his beloved dog, Chili.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 o'clock Monday evening at Gamble Funeral Service ' 410 Stephenson Avenue.
The funeral service will be held 1 o'clock Tuesday afternoon in the chapel of Gamble Funeral Service conducted by The Reverend Jeff S. Hartman. Interment will be private.
