Edna Jackie Rigdon Courson, 83, of Rincon, Georgia and widow of Charlie Sheffield, Sr. and V. E. Courson, died Friday, September 10, 2021.
Born in Statesboro, Georgia, she was a daughter of the late Carl Lee Rigdon and the late Bertha Mae Joyner. Mrs. Courson worked with Plant Vogel in Waynesboro for several years and retired to Rincon, Georgia. She was an active member of the Effingham Senior Citizens Organization and an avid reader. In addition she was an accomplished seamstress as well as enjoying word puzzles and spending time with her family and friends.
In addition to her husbands and parents, Jackie was preceded in death by her daughter, Janet Watkins and brothers, Carl Rigdon and James Rigdon.??
Survivors include her daughters, Judy Gunnels of Guyton, Georgia, and Vickie Fries (Ray) of Evans, Georgia; son, Charlie Sheffield, Jr. of Savannah, Georgia; grandchildren, Ashley Sanchez of Guyton, Georgia, Jennifer Smith of Evans, Georgia, and Laura McCall of Hazlehurst, Georgia and several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held at 2 o'clock, Tuesday, September 14, 2021, at the graveside, New Hope United Methodist Church Cemetery - 9623 Georgia Highway 24, Statesboro, Georgia 30461.
