Jack Golden, 81, of Savannah, Georgia died Tuesday evening, September 29, 2015, at Candler Hospital.



Born in Savannah, he was a son of the late Hyman and Fannie Golden. He was a member of Congregation Mickve Israel. Mr. Golden graduated from Vanderbilt University, and also studied at several other colleges including Armstrong Junior College, Columbia University, and the Sorbonne. He began his distinguished career with the US Information Service, and then moved on to the United Nations Development Program, where he devoted his life until his retirement. Traveling was a passion; he had posts all over Asia and developed a love of Asian culture. Before being stationed in a new country, he learned their language. He also loved classical music, especially opera, and traveled extensively after his retirement, spending time with friends he met in various posts. His curiosity was boundless.



In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Donald Golden.



Survivors include a nephew, Michael Golden, a niece, Karin Golden, and a great-nephew, Matthew Golden, all of Kansas City, and many relatives and close friends.



The funeral service will be held at 11 o'clock Friday morning at the graveside, Bonaventure Cemetery, conducted by Rabbi Robert W. Haas.
